WatchDog

Terms of Use

Updated July 11, 2026 · LA Software UG

By using WatchDog, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

Overview

WatchDog is a laptop security solution designed to help users deter theft and increase awareness around device safety in public and shared spaces. WatchDog does not provide insurance, law enforcement services, or guaranteed recovery of lost or stolen devices.

Eligibility

To use WatchDog, you must:

  • Be at least 14 years old.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Use WatchDog for lawful, personal, or professional purposes.

Account responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your device and any credentials associated with WatchDog.
  • Ensuring that your device and operating system meet WatchDog's technical requirements.
  • Using WatchDog in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms.

WatchDog is installed and operated locally on your device. You remain fully responsible for how and where you use it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Misuse or attempt to interfere with WatchDog's functionality.
  • Reverse engineer, modify, or distribute WatchDog without authorisation.
  • Use WatchDog for unlawful surveillance, harassment, or any activity that violates privacy or applicable law.
  • Attempt to access data or devices that you do not own or have permission to use.

WatchDog Key companion app

WatchDog Key is a complementary iOS application that pairs with your Mac to remotely arm and disarm WatchDog, receive security alerts, and confirm proximity. The following additional terms apply:

  • Use of WatchDog Key requires an active WatchDog subscription or trial on your paired Mac.
  • You are responsible for keeping your iPhone powered on and within Bluetooth range when using arm, disarm, or proximity features. Receiving alarm notifications additionally requires that your iPhone is connected to the internet and Apple's push notification service is reachable.
  • Bluetooth must remain enabled on both devices for pairing, remote control, and proximity features to function. Battery consumption may increase while Bluetooth Low Energy is active.
  • Only one iPhone may be paired with a Mac at a time. You may unpair WatchDog Key at any time from the WatchDog desktop app, which invalidates the pairing token and prevents the previous iPhone from sending further commands.

WatchDog Key is provided free of charge alongside your WatchDog license. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue WatchDog Key with reasonable notice.

Subscriptions and auto-renewal

WatchDog offers auto-renewable subscriptions. WatchDog Monthly is 2.99 EUR per month and WatchDog Yearly is 24.99 EUR per year. A paid subscription unlocks WatchDog's full theft protection, including active alarm and detection features, remote arm and disarm, and pairing with the WatchDog Key companion app. There are two ways to subscribe, and the billing terms depend on which one you use.

If you subscribe to the WatchDog Mac app from our website, your payment is processed by Stripe and charged to the payment method you provide. The subscription automatically renews at the same price and for the same period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel at any time from your account or by contacting us at info@lasoftware.tech, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

If you subscribe through the WatchDog Key app on the App Store, your payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel at any time in your App Store account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

The current Privacy Policy and these Terms of Use are linked at the point of purchase and remain available on watchdogapp.de.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have a 14 day right to withdraw from a purchase. For digital content and services that begin immediately, this right ends once performance has started with your prior agreement and your acknowledgement that you lose the withdrawal right. By starting your subscription you agree that WatchDog begins providing the service right away and you accept that your 14 day right of withdrawal ends at that point. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refund requests are handled through Apple in line with App Store policy. You can also contact us at info@lasoftware.tech.

Intellectual property

All content and materials related to WatchDog and WatchDog Key, including software, logos, designs, and documentation, are the intellectual property of LA Software UG or its licensors.

You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of WatchDog or WatchDog Key without prior written permission.

Limitation of liability

WatchDog is an alarm and deterrent tool. While we aim to improve device security, WatchDog does not guarantee the prevention of theft, loss, or damage. Theft is a criminal act of a third party, and we are not responsible for the actions of third parties.

LA Software UG is liable without limitation for damages caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and under any guarantee we have expressly given.

In cases of simple negligence, LA Software UG is liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations. Essential contractual obligations are those whose fulfillment makes the proper performance of this agreement possible in the first place and on whose fulfillment you may regularly rely. In these cases, our liability is limited to the damage that is foreseeable and typical for this type of contract.

Beyond this, any liability of LA Software UG for simple negligence is excluded. This also applies to our legal representatives and agents.

For loss of data, we are liable only up to the recovery effort that would have been necessary if you had backed up your data regularly and appropriately.

Your mandatory statutory rights, including your warranty rights as a consumer for digital products, remain unaffected.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to WatchDog if you violate these Terms or misuse the software.

You may stop using WatchDog at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. Continued use of WatchDog after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
