Once upon a time, in a German library, there lived a student. He was not allowed to bring a coffee inside. So every time he wanted one, he packed up his laptop and gave up his seat.
The reality
Walking away
is the scary part.
Thirty seconds at the counter. A quick call outside. One trip to the bathroom. That is all someone needs to walk off with your Mac, and everything on it.

In the cafés of the city it was no better. He packed up everything, or he trusted a stranger. One day the stranger was on a phone call, facing the window. So the student went looking for a guard. The locks needed a cable. The apps only helped once the laptop was gone.

The student’s name was Andrey. He stopped looking, and together with a friend whose name the legend keeps to itself, he taught a laptop to bark. Some say they met at EBS. Some say they shipped it in July, exactly when they said they would.
