Open the downloaded file, drag WatchDog into your Applications folder, then start it from there. Apple has checked and notarized it, so your Mac will not complain.

Arm it before you step away.

It runs on your Mac itself, so the café Wi-Fi can be as bad as it wants.
Go do your thing.
Get your coffee, take the call, go to the bathroom. WatchDog keeps an eye on the table, you don't have to.
It never opens your files or your mail. The camera only checks for movement, and no picture is ever saved.
